Raku Course - 2 day 23rd & 30th Oct £175

Experience using fire & flames to make beautiful pots!

  • Starts Oct 23
  • 175 British pounds
  • Yoxford Makers

Service Description

Run on two consecutive Saturdays - the first is spent making pieces which will then be glazed and fired on the second, using the Japanese technique of Raku firing. The firing day is spent mostly outdoors using an outdoor gas kiln. Pots are fired to 1000 degrees before being removed from the kiln and placed in a reduction chamber - achieving dramatic flames, smoke and ultimately beautifully glazed pots! Outdoor clothing and sturdy enclosed footwear must be worn. Long hair must be tied back, preferably under a hat and no flammable materials should be worn. Tea & coffee are available throughout the day, a packed lunch will be needed. If the weather is particularly wet and/or windy the firing day will be moved to the next consecutive Saturday, so please ensure you are available on all dates.
